One of humanity’s greatest driving forces is… curiosity. And that’s exactly what leads our prehistoric protagonist to finding a jetpack left behind by an alien invader.

In Jet Kave Adventure, the Stone Age meets Science-Fiction. We tell the story of Kave, a chief banished by his own tribe. When you meet him, Kave wanders aimlessly through a canyon until he stumbles upon a wrecked spaceship. Instead of running away, his curiosity compels him to spy on the alien trying to fix the ship, for which he almost pays the ultimate price.

When Kave comes around, he browses through the wreckage and finds a working jetpack. He also learns about the alien’s plans of destroying the island. Between that knowledge and the newfound extraterrestrial piece of tech, he quickly turns from an exile into the only caveman who stands a chance against the alien threat…

Chernobyl’s Johan Renck was initially slated to direct the upcoming The Last of Us TV adaptation for HBO, but scheduling conflicts forced a change of plans. Now a new filmmaker has been nabbed to direct the upcoming project with Beanpole’s Kantemir Balagov stepping up to the plate as director.

The new director choice has been revealed via The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that the show is back on track. Balagov is a Russian filmmaker that is no stranger to heartfelt drama and his talents have made him the seemingly perfect fit to pilot the upcoming HBO series.

The Chernobly touch isn’t completely gone with Renck’s exit. Craig Mazin, the series’ creator, is still attached to the upcoming The Last of Us adaptation as a writer and co-executive producer.

Regarding the TV series itself, the game’s creative director (and now Naughty Dog co-president), Neil Druckmann, has confirmed that he will be … Read the rest

Bonkies

Crunching Koalas

$14.99

$11.99
Bonkies is a jolly party game about cooperation, space construction and the joys of colonising the solar system as a team of monkeys.

You and your prime mates will be tasked with raising all sorts of quirky constructions on distant planets, by stacking blocks so they fit a given outline. To do so, you will have to team up with other space faring animals and master the use of your trusty apequipment – a banana-fuelled jetpack and a powerful robo-arm.

On top of that, you’ll have to utilise the wackiest kinds of blocks (magnets, rockets and even nuclear fusion are no strangers for a well-trained astronaut like yourself), and work in exotic and not-quite-monkey-friendly places. Who said space construction was going to be easy?

Monkey around with your friends!
Moving heavy blocks is no

GSC Gameworld has released some additional information on the STALKER 2 in-engine gameplay teaser it released a couple of weeks back.

According to the developer, the character you will play in STALKER 2 is Skif, and his actions will shape the new chapter in the history of the Zone.

The short scene you saw takes place in the ruined school on the outskirts of the dead town of Pripyat. It’s an extremely dangerous place, and doesn’t seem to be quite abandoned. Skif is in a hurry though, as if something is following him so he doesn’t have time to investigate.

Apparently, this danger is an emission that is a signature part of the STALKER series. This release of anomalous energy from the center of the Zone happens from time to time and can kill you quickly.

When a stalker notices a start of emission, they should hide immediately and … Read the rest

There’s no question about it – Doom Eternal is a remarkably impressive technical achievement. The id Tech 7 engine delivers exceptionally high-quality visuals at a smooth 60 frames per second across the full range of PlayStation and Xbox consoles. We witnessed a boost in texture quality, geometry density and world scale. It’s a game that really demonstrates the full potential of these machines, while laying the technological foundation for the next generation. In theory, this should make a potential Switch conversion of the game even more challenging than prior Panic Button ports of id Tech titles and yet, there’s a good argument here in saying that this the talented developer’s most impressive work yet.

Of course, by any virtually any measurable criteria – bar power consumption, of course! – the Switch rendition of Doom Eternal is the least preferable way to play the game. In fact, it calls to mind … Read the rest

As a black man with a lifelong obsession with games, I’ve either heard or been asked this question many times in my life: What games let you play as black characters? My answer is usually pretty short. Anyone paid attention knows that games have predominantly featured white protagonists for decades. There are plenty of great-looking games on the horizon, but finding titles starring heroes that resemble the people in marginalized communities can be like finding a needle in a haystack. That’s unfortunate because no matter the shape or size of a game, it’s always a powerful feeling to see a character that looks like you.

So, I’d like to prepare an answer for people who are regularly asked the same question and for those who ask it themselves. I’ve compiled this list of upcoming games featuring protagonists who are black, brown, or just non-white in general. To that end, this … Read the rest

Each organisation received an average of just under $500.

Staff at publishing giant Activision Blizzard have donated $1.6 billion to a number of charity organisations.

In a news post on its website, the company said that it had given each of the 8,013 members of staff that work across Activision Blizzard, Activision, Blizzard and King $200 each to donate to a charity of their choosing. The result was 3,211 organisations receiving donations. On average, each charity will have received around $498.

Organisations benefitting from these donations include Gamers Outreach – which supports kids in hospital – and the LGBTQ-focused suicide hotline The Trevor Project, as well as Save the Children, which sort of does what it says on the tin.

“At Activision Blizzard, we recognize our responsibility to give back to the communities where we operate,” CEO Robert Kotick and president and COO Daniel Alegre said in a statement.… Read the rest

2020 was a big year for Microsoft Flight Simulator. After a decade and a half away, Microsoft’s partnership with French studio Asobo delivered a sterling return to the world of hardcore simulation, and a little more besides – centred around a feat I still haven’t tired of as I explore new corners of the world. It harnessed the breadth and depth of Microsoft’s technical expertise, from Bing to Azure, to create a truly breathtaking 1:1 replica of the entire globe. Small wonder it ended up being one of my – and many others – games of the year.

“[The reception] has been so generous,” head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann tells me over Microsoft Teams (naturally) of the sim’s first few months. “When you come back after 14 years, you wonder how you’re going to be received. You were gone for a while, the segment has moved. But I … Read the rest
