Recent changes to how parties work on PS4 have certainly not been popular.

Sony has acknowledged the response to one particular change made to PS4 recently. With the release of firmware update 8.00 – likely to be the last major update for seven-year-old console, Sony changed the structure of parties.

Previously, anyone with a PlayStation Plus subscription could start a party, and invite others to join them in-game as well as obviously in voice chat. Invites could be sent out to anyone, friends and others you meet online, and everyone went their separate ways once the party had been disbanded.

With firmware 8.00, Sony made it to so PS4 parties are tied to message groups. This isn’t so much a problem if you only really have a couple of friend groups you chat and play with, but it’s needlessly complicated for those who just want to create a party with … Read the rest

Back when Genshin Impact was first announced last year, this lush open-world adventure bore some key similarities to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Now, over a year on, Genshin Impact still hasn’t shaken those comparisons, but since the release of 1.0 last week it’s clear it’s so much more than a free-to-play clone of Nintendo’s finest. That’s evident from the numbers alone: Genshin Impact is now the “biggest global launch of a Chinese game ever”, and is currently on track to gross more than $100 Million in its first month alone.

Developer MiHoYo is no stranger to technically impressive free-to-play mobile titles, with a decent pedigree with titles like Honkai Impact 3rd, another action-focused game with gorgeous graphics, locked to mobile devices. Of course, how a company is able to put out high-budget games for free is that they rely on you spending money on in-game currency to get a … Read the rest

I haven’t exactly been subtle in my undying love for the Dragon Age franchise and since it’ll be quite a bit of time before we get more Dragon Age 4 news, I have to get my fix where I can. So when a friend of mine shared this incredible Dragon Age Inquisition recreation of Skyhold in The Sims 4? I just had to share.

Redditor user r/StarshinePrince took to the forums to share their creation and I’ll be honest; I was shocked. When I saw the title of the post of being a recreation, I expected it to be one frame of a building that looked similar to that of Skyhold. What I wasn’t expecting was a detailed recreation, even going room to room.

What makes the next-gen difference? Today, the embargo lifts on our first look at an actual Xbox Series X title – Dirt 5, from Codemasters Cheshire. Xbox Series consoles benefit from three plays modes, including the ability to play at 120 frames per second on compatible displays – and first impressions are highly favourable. What we’re looking at today isn’t a final build and optimisations are ongoing up until release on November 10th, but the developers look set to deliver an involving, fun driving game that gives the user plenty of choice in how the generational leap in CPU and GPU power is deployed.

Dirt 5 builds on a truly remarkable foundation, using an evolved form of the Onrush engine built by Codemasters Cheshire, where many of its staff originally worked on Sony’s excellent MotorStorm and DriveClubs franchises. Onrush wasn’t the commercial success many might have hoped for, but the … Read the rest

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is out now for PlayStation players to enjoy and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you can learn all about it with our interview with the game’s creative director right here. With raids and various co-op missions, there is a lot to enjoy, but there is one aspect of the newly added New Games+ that is very important: yes, you can pet the dog. Even better?
