Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the latest in Activision’s annual first-person shooter series, is a solid effort. Playing through its campaign, multiplayer and zombies modes – Call of Duty’s golden triangle – there is a lot to like. And I do believe Black Ops Cold War is probably the best game it has any right to be under the circumstances – circumstances that were troubled even before the pandemic forced the developers at Raven and Treyarch and the enormous quality assurance effort that goes into a Call of Duty to switch to work from home. Like a Black Ops operation behind enemy lines, Cold War is something of a miraculous rescue job, the result of what I have no doubt was a crushing effort to meet Activision’s launch deadline. That there is a solid game to play at all is a fantastic achievement. But, every now and then, … Read the rest

It’s time for an Anniversary! We’re celebrating a year of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition with the biggest update we’ve ever shipped, including a NEW Battle Royale game mode, NEW features to help welcome our growing community, balance changes, bug fixes, and more!
It’s time for a Battle Royale, Age of Empires style! With the November Anniversary Update, we’re introducing a new game mode – Battle Royale! This fast-paced mode pits up to eight players against each other in five new custom maps for a free-for-all contest to see who can be the last combatant standing. Each player starts with two hero units and can then scout the map for both supply and military buildings. Resources are on a constant tick and will accelerate if you’re able to maintain control of those supply buildings, but be vigilant – any other player can take those away by eliminating your defenses … Read the rest

Tetris is the final boss of a lot of video game consoles. For years I kept my NES around, partly, sure, because I think it is uncommonly nice to look at, but mostly because it meant Tetris on the TV. Equally, I reckon there are a lot of Game Boys out there that only play Tetris these days; I have at least two in my house somewhere. After that it starts to get slightly creepy: as the years have passed, my DS is largely still active because of Tetris DS, a Nintendo-themed blow-out marked by scrappy imagination. And if we allow Lumines into the fold, then jeepers: the PSP is never without the Lumines UMD, and my Vita is basically a beautiful machine for playing Electronic Symphony, a game that had the audacity to change the way the fuse block worked – and I loved it for that.

Hi everyone! I’m Franciszek Batko, a game developer of Red Limb Studio. I’m pleased to announce we’ve finally launched Beat Me! on Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X.
Beat Me! is a physics-based multiplayer game for up to six players. That’s a lovely party brawler where we fight as puppets at the Puppetonia kingdom. The main game mode is the deathmatch available locally as well as over the internet. There are over 100 levels in the game, which are an important part of the gameplay. Each scene can surprise you in a different way, as well as any character that players can play. Fighting in the Puppetonia Tournament, you must master skills, fighting-styles, and adopt strategies for each unique situation to win the match.
Our main goal was to make the game fun. The most important thing is not the competition, but the time well spent together. Therefore, I‘m very … Read the rest

Forza Horizon 4 isn’t just one of the best Xbox exclusives, it’s also one of the greatest racing games ever made. A couple of years back, we lauded excellent Xbox One, One X and PC versions – and loved the way that Microsoft’s enhanced console offered the option of 1080p60 racing, a first for the series. With the arrival of Xbox Series X and the junior S, 60fps is now the standard. Advantages for the new version are plain to see across the board, but surprisingly – and disappointingly – there are some visual cutbacks too.
With this new patch, Forza Horizon no longer has multiple performance modes to choose from. In theory, it should no longer need them. Xbox Series X has twice the GPU power of Xbox One X, so it stands to reason that One X’s 4K30 quality mode should transition to 4K60 on the new X. … Read the rest
With over ten games in the series, the Kingdom Hearts franchise has been going strong for nearly twenty years. Xbox players were only officially introduced to Sora and all the magic and splendor the series contains with Kingdom Hearts III’s release in 2019. More recently, the majority of the series with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.6 ReMix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue have been released on Xbox, and all available on Game Pass, too!
These various installments have expanded the world of Kingdom Hearts and introduced countless new characters, settings, and gameplay mechanics. If there’s one constant that’s been present in each game, aside from the magical pairing of Disney and original Kingdom Hearts characters, it would have to be the fantastic music.
While various composers and arrangers have contributed to the library of Kingdom Hearts music since the series’ inception, its main composer is … Read the rest
