A racist line in the upcoming Monster Hunter movie has Chinese audiences rightfully upset.

Monster Hunter World is facing the ire of upset audiences due to a controversial comment in the new film.

The Monster Hunter film already has fans of the franchise cautious. The modern military elements mixed with the iconography of the game is a stark choice and not one die-hards seem overly thrilled about.

However, it appears the film is now even beginning to hurt the franchise’s flagship title, Monster Hunter World. The game has come under fire from Chinese audiences, where the film is available. Negative reviews hit Steam as a reaction to a controversial line in the film which seemingly refers to a discriminatory chant.

Senior Analyst at Niko Partners Daniel Ahmad (via Eurogamer) posted a clip on his Twitter. He went on to explain:

Months ago, Capcom announced Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s final content update with plans to permanently reintroduce all event quests and rotate hub-specific festivals every two weeks. That update, entitled 15.10, dropped today in advance of Monster Hunter Rise’s 2021 release. So, while everyone is gearing up to clear any limited-time modes they might’ve missed over the years, I’ll be in my element: Alone; among the rustling forests, echoing canyons, and frozen prairies of the New World.

Monster Hunter: World was an unexpected gift from my best friend. He’d been playing Capcom’s famed action/RPG franchise for as long as I could remember. I wasn’t particularly impressed by his explanations of the series’ age-old gameplay loop. Even so, I spent half of Monster Hunter: World’s launch day tinkering with its character creator. Soon, my avatar “Spider Face ” was born, and together we spent hundreds of hours conducting field research Read the rest

The man behind Geralt of Rivia’s husky tones hasn’t been asked to work on CD Projekt’s upcoming RPG.

Polish studio CD Projekt is trying to keep a lid on what goes on in Cyberpunk 2077, but we know one thing for sure.

The voice of The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, Doug Cockle, is not going to be making a cameo in the studio’s latest release. Speaking to Eurogamer, the voice actor confirmed that he hasn’t had any involvement in the project.

“Sadly, I haven’t had any involvement with Cyberpunk thus far,” he said. “It was mentioned long ago but [CDPR] hasn’t brought me in for anything. I’m kinda sad about it actually!

“Oh well,” he added. “Maybe in the future…”

In the past, Cockle had expressed an interest in appearing in Cyberpunk 2077, but has said before that CD Projekt hadn’t contacted him for any work on the Read the rest

Dauntless lets you roam around islands hunting down behemoths and using parts of them to craft new and exciting weaponry. The free-to-play game has been around for quite some time (we reviewed it all the way back in early access, much has changed since then) and today Dauntless adds an open world experience to the game with the launch of Dauntless Reforged. 18 different open world islands are added to the mix where players can hunt a plethora of different beasts, find treasures, and more.

Previously, island hunts would task players with hunting down a behemoth and completing a mission in a task structure of sorts. Today, players can engage with The Hunting Grounds in order to explore, hunt, and collect in a variety of environments that are designed to offer variance, replayability, and surprise. Along the way you can find treasure, take on multiple behemoths, and uncover other … Read the rest

You’ll Never Walk Alone might be wonderful for Liverpool fans, but it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard for others.

FIFA 21 has finally made its way to PS5, Xbox Series X and S. From my early matches, EA has delivered a game of football that looks decently better than the last-gen version, but to be honest the intro threw me so much I’m not sure I’m thinking clearly. You see, FIFA 21 on next-gen has a very Liverpool-centric opening. I don’t like it one bit.

I’ll admit that I have a potentially irrational dislike of Liverpool football club. For this I mostly blame my granddad, who used to utter the very worst swear words whenever Liverpool were on TV, back in the days before the Premier League and pitches looked worse than my garden. I’m a reasonable person, I think. I appreciate that Liverpool have been an incredible team … Read the rest

Worms Rumble reimagines the turn-based classic as a real-time arena shooter. It’s arcadey and colourful and extremely brisk. I would love to tell you that this is the definitive Worms Battle Royale, but so far Last Worm Standing is actually my least favourite of the three modes on offer. Nonetheless I guess that’s the pitch.

It’s 32 players blasting each other to pieces in surprisingly expansive 2D environments with lots of architectural complexity to balance the fact that there are so many people packed in there together. There are shopping malls and underground stations with working trains. There are vents and elevators and secret areas, which are covered to the player until you head inside yourself – which could mean a nasty surprise. You spawn with one of a handful of weapons but there are plenty of others scattered around. This is Worms so there are rifles and shotguns, but … Read the rest

Dauntless Reforged launches December 3 and includes a substantial rework of previous systems and the introduction of a brand-new hunt type. Here are three new things to experience in the Shattered Isles when this update goes live on Xbox One.

Hunting Grounds

The Hunting Grounds hunt type offers an entirely new way to engage with the Shattered Isles. 18 new islands support up to 6 slayers at once, and the best part? You no longer have to leave! Stay and slay to your heart’s content. With 18 islands to explore, you’ll never find a dull moment. Face hostile fauna, unlock rewards, and take on ferocious behemoths to your heart’s content.

Since you’re able to spend more time on Hunting Grounds islands than in previous hunt types, we’ve also added the ability to seamlessly restock your supplies on islands through a new consumable source: Supply crates. Supply crates let you refresh … Read the rest

Prior to the last-gen launch of Madden NFL 21, EA Sports announced that those who purchased the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One would be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X version for free thanks to its Dual Entitlement system. The new-gen version is set to launch on Friday, December 4. However, EA Sports has announced that those who are upgrading from the last-gen version will have access to the new-gen version today, a day earlier than expected.

Unfortunately, there’s some bad news for those upgrading from PS4 to PS5: The online will not work at launch. According to EA Tiburon, the development team discovered a previously unknown issue with the PS5 version of Madden NFL 21 late in the final testing phase. The issue only occurs when the PS5 version is connected to the EA servers, so until the fix (which the team … Read the rest
